Bourbon Cranberry Sauce

Cranberries in baking dish with wooden spoon lying across one corner and small bottle of bourbon next to it.
Bourbon has a strong smell that can overpower the cranberries. The amount you need is variable to taste but 1/4 c is the most you should add. This year I used half that amount (1/8 c.)

Another holiday favorite. Enjoy!

This recipe makes about 3 cups.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pound (about 4 cups) of cranberries
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup bourbon

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Combine first 3 ingredients in 9×13-inch baking dish.

Cover tightly with foil and bake until cranberries are tender and sugar is dissolved, stirring once, about 1 hour.

Remove from oven and stir in bourbon.

Refrigerate cranberry sauce until well chilled.

This side dish can be prepared up to 1 week ahead of serving.
